Romania will make efforts to obtain the European Commission’s report earlier in the fall in order to allow more time for the remaining EU member states to ratify the Accession Treaty before the end of 2006 so that it can join in on January 1, 2007.

The Integration Minister Anca Boagiu is determined to speed up all efforts, hence a “to do list” has already been established together with a communication schedule with the European officials to assist Romania with advice.

Boagiu is confident of the EU support as the Union included Romania in the EU budget for 2007-2013, and it would receive 2 bln Euros in the first year and 7 bln in the last one.

The fall report is expected to contain the accession date of Romania and Bulgaria.
