The National Block of Anti- Communist Revolutionaries protested in front of the Social Democratic Party’s head office on Monday requesting the ousting of former Romanian president Ion Iliescu from the political scene. Iliescu is investigated in the 1989 Revolution and Miners’ Revolts cases.

The protesters also ask for the resignation of PSD deputy Emilian Vasile Cutean, former secretary of the Secretariat for Revolution participants ‘problems, following accusations of work abuse and financial wrongdoings while in office.

The mob attempted to force their entry into the PSD headoffice, where the party members are reunited for a meeting of the Permanent Board.

Ion Iliescu, currently PSD senator, announced plans of creating a new political organization, parallel with PSD, the Social Platform, together with former ally and premier in 1990-1991, Petre Roman.
