The former head of the Romanian Railways Company (CFR) Mihai Necolaiciuc and a former secretary of state within the Transportation Ministry Traian Panait have been placed under investigation by the Anti-corruption Department (DNA) for an alleged prejudice of approximately 29 mln euros.

The DNA prosecutors accuse Necolaiciuc of illegal contracts that overestimated payments to companies providing services for CFR. Panait is charged with transferring approx 29 mln euros assets from the CFR to the railway tourism company CFR S.A, including hotels Bucovina Vatra Dornei, Snagov, Astoria.

The case involves other 29 former managers from the Transportation Ministry.
