President Traian Basescu honoured with Sport decorations the Steaua handball players and the team for the winning of the Challenge Cup title. The president appreciated that the team sports and the success they have yielded represent a hallmark for Romania.
"The joys you bring to us spectators are so deep as if they represent us in a competition against life. Thank you for assuming the winning of the Challenge Cup!" said Basescu, who considered that the handball world championship could be organized by Bucharest in 2009.
Steaua Bucharest won the Challenge Cup on Sunday, following victory against the Portugese Sporting Horta, with 34-27 in the second leg, after a disadvantageous result in the first leg 21-26 .
