Almost half of the shares belonging to the telephone company Romtelecom are to be listed on the stock market with the assistance from the American investment consultancy company Credit Suiss First Boston, following a contract signed with the Ministry of Communications and IT (MCTI), which holds 45.99 percent of the Romtelecom shares.

46 percent of the Romtelecom shares bwill be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange most probably in the end of October, according to Romanian officials. Another international stock will be chosen for listing by the American consultant.

The contract stipulates that Credit Suiss First Boston will receive a commission ranging from 1.22 to 1.45 percent of the shares’ value.

MCTI officials estimated the total value of the shares hold by the state at approximately $1 billion, but analysts consider it can grow if properly managed.
