The last report on Friday afternoon showed that Danube flooding affected more than 144,000 ha of agricultural land, out of which approx. 82,000 were submerged by controlled flooding. The controlled overflow damaged the wheat and soy crops, and severely affected agricultural activities in the counties of Dolj, Calarasi, Ialomita and Olt, according to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Damages were inflicted also by rain showers, overflow of other tributary rivers and of the Danube in the counties of Dolj and Tulcea.

Most affected were the wheat crops – almost 30, 000 ha, rape crops – over 3,000ha, soy – 1,300 ha, barley crops – 1,400 ha, but also pastures and hay fields. Some 30,000 ha that were not cultivated yet lied under water as well.
