Nicolae Dica scored the only goal of the match in min’30 for Steaua Bucharest on own turf. The Romanian team dominated the match. However, referee Alain Hamer (Luxemburg) showed four yellow cards for Steaua players, two of them - Nicolita and Paraschiv- not being allowed to play the second leg any more.
Despite many missed occasions by Steaua players, the Bucharest team has the 1-0 advantage for the next match.
The second leg of the semi-final is to take place on April, 27, on Middlesbrough turf.
