The retail division of the Rompetrol Group, Rompetrol Downstream, expects it will reach a business figure of 685 million US dollars in 2006, up 37% compared to 2005. The boost is supported mainly by expansion projects for its own fuel distribution network and increasing fuel sales.

According to company officials, Rompetrol Downstream plans to increase the number of its fuel distribution units from 90 to 120 and bring the number of "Rompetrol Partner" gas stations to 250.

The development plans focus mainly in western, central and northern Romania as well as Bucharest.

The investment effort of the company will rise to 55 million US dollars in 2006, 43 millions of which will go for the construction of 20 new gas stations and the modernization of another 130 in the Partner system.
