Rompetrol Petrochemicals has sealed off a 14-year partnership contract with American Dow Chemicals, based on which the Romanian company will produce polymers under the brand Dow. The contract makes possible the achievement of a turnover of more than $1 billion per year for the petrochimistry division.

Rompetrol Petrochemicals is to deliver over 60 thousand tones of polymers in the first year, and to reach 100 thousand tones in the shortest time afterwards. The production facilities have a capacity of 800 tones yearly.

The Romanian company, part of the Rompetrol Group, boasts a turnover of $ 130 mln in 2005. The CEO of Dow Europa, Markus Wildi, said that the negotiation that had lasted for one year and a half, were not influenced by the Rompetrol head Dinu Patriciu’s investigation.

Romania was an attractive market due to a low plastic consume of less than 6 kilos/ capita compared to Western Europe where consume reached 36 kilos/capita.

Rompetrol signed the first contract with a foreign partner in December 2005, with Dyneff Group, valued at $5 bln.
