The currency reserves of the Romanian National Bank – BNR sttod at 18.1 billion euro by the end of March 2006, up 457,2 million from the previous report, according to a BNR announcement today.

The rise is the result of several operations including massive incomes of 1.02 billion euro from the administration of the international reserves.

These were complemented by changes to the minimum currency reserves of commercial banks.

According to the BNR, Romania’s gold reserve stood at 104.8 tons, the value of which rose to 1.6 billion euro, bringing the total international reserves of the Bank to 19.76 billion euro.
