Romania ranks among the laggards in Europe in terms of pre-tax wage gained per hour, along with Ukraine, Bulgaria, Belarus and Moldova, according to "Pay in Europe 2006" annual report of The Federation of European Employers that covers 48 countries.

Romania ranks 41, the same place as last year, with an unqualified worker earning a minimum salary of 3.44 RON/hour whereas a manager earns 12,06RON/hour. According the FedEE the pre tax average wage stands at 5,67 RON/hour.

The highest wage belongs to the Danish workers. A Romanian’s wage makes up 6% of a Dane’s salary whereas a Hungarian earns 12% of a Dane’s salary. The runner up is Norway with 78% of the Danish minimum wage, followed by Switzerland (76%) and Luxembourg (67%).
