The Romanian House of Deputies approved by a large majority on Tuesday the Romanian-US accord for the establishment of US mobile military bases in the country. The vote comes two months after the deal was signed by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in Bucharest.

The accord provides a series of facilities for use by the US military, exempts them from taxation and other national regulations on defense equipment and allows them to use properties belonging to the public patrimony.
