The higher inflation rate recorded during the past six months is temporary, said Mugur Isarescu, governor of the Romanian Central Bank (BNR) in a press conference on Thursday. Still, he says, the lack of measures may lead to a spiral of this growth, which will lead to the loss of all things accomplished lately.

The price growth for food, fuels and the exchange rate evolution are the main inflation reasons in 2007. The annual inflation rate reached 6.57%, a lot above the 4% target. Isarescu added that the 3.3 -3.4 RON per euro exchange rate in August as abnormal, while the current 3.6 is the normal value.
