Old apartments in downtown Bucharest have the highest prices per sq. meter while old apartments in not so fancy neighborhoods are the 'cheapest', a Coldwell Banker Affiliates Romania study shows.

Even though some current residential projects have been finished, the demand for apartments in Bucharest is still high, specialists in the sector say.

The conclusions of the CBA study are already known for most citizens: top rated areas like Primaverii, Kiseleff, Dorobanti, Cotroceni or Herastrau are searched by those with high and very high salary levels while semi-central areas like Obor, Iancului, Titan are favorites among those with medium salaries.

Prices of apartments skyrocketed over the past several years and the study reveals that this aspect will still characterize the sector, despite the new residential projects. Thus, in Primaverii, one can purchase an apartment with 3,000-3,500 euro/square meter while the cheapest can be bought at 1,600-1,800 euro/square meters in downrated neighborhoods such as Pantelimon.
