The Baneasa airport in Bucharest has no chances of survival in its current location, said Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu on Thursday. The PM asked Transport Minister Ludovic Orban to prepare to take the steps necessary to move all low cost flights to the Otopeni airport, letting Baneasa serve only the Romaero company. Romaero specializes in small, business flights, with a lower level of phonic pollution.

In Tariceanu’s opinion, the airport became a true danger for the inhabitants of the area, being to close to the center of the city. The prime minister said that there is no a certain intention defined to shut down the airport, but that the Bucharest development will not allow the airport to function so close to the city central area.
