A new draft of the Bucharest City Council, opened for public debate, may force all pet owners to neuter their pets. The Stray Animals Administration (ASA) may be allowed to neuter all animals, including those in their owners' backyards and the pets.
Within six months after the decision is adopted natural and legal persons who own cats or dogs may be forced to neuter them and to record them in the ASA database. The measure does not apply to animal recorded in the Dog and Cat associations or t animals under 6 months.
The draft also may restrict the possession of pets to animals bearing an electronic chip.
