Local authorities organize several concerts, theaters and exhibitions on Saturday to mark 550 years since Bucharest was first mentioned in written. The events will start on Saturday, 10 am with a Children Carnival in Herastrau, one of Bucharest's biggest parks and various cultural events will take place over one week, Romanian news agency Mediafax informs.

Starting on Saturday, several concerts will mark the genesis of the capital city while various museums will open up their gates for visitors with various themes concerning the historical periods of the city.

Plus, theaters across Bucharest will offer free access on September 19 to 20 to various plays. On Saturday, September 19, at 12 pm local minorities living in Bucharest like Turks, Rroma, Germans or Russians will host a show. On Sunday, a show set up by the Italians, Polish and German minorities can be admired.

Bucharest's transports department marks 100 years of existence and will organize on September 19, starting at 10 am a parade, Time Caravan, which will present trams pulled by horses, old transports vehicles but also new products made in Romania.

Bucharest was first mentioned in written on September 20, 1459 in a document through which a Romanian ruler, Vlad Tepes confirms a donation to some small feudals.
