Four hectares of Bucharest park Plumbuita are subject of a court case in which former owners of the land claim it back. Should the green area be given back to its owners, it might be used to build a residential quarter, Bucharest District 2 mayor Neculai Ontanu claims.

A court decision in the case is expected on Tuesday, according to Romanian news channel Antena 3.

The land is claimed back by the heirs of three families who had their property confiscated by the former Communist regime. But District 2 town hall representatives claim the families have no right to claim it back as they have been rewarded for the land 60 years ago.
