Bucharest’s prefecture announced on Friday that 1,468 people were bitten by stray dogs in January and February 2011 in Bucharest 2011 according to data offered by the National Institute for Infectious Diseases Matei Bals through the anti rabies institute, news agency Agerpres reports.

Of these, 274 are children. Moreover, the Bucharest Public Health Department signals that an impressive number of unmonitored dogs in Bucharest leads to the risks of affecting the population’s health. Thus, a sick dog can transmit 42 diseases to the man.
