Central European Media Enterprises (CME) has signed a multi-annual license deal with the MTV Network International through which Pro TV S.A obtains the right to manage MTV Romania, a press release of CME reports on Tuesday.

The MTV Romania license was held so far by Music Television System SRL, a firm which has been negotiating to cede the license to other press groups for several months.

The value of the contract was not revealed.

CME's interest for MTV Romania is explained in the group's press release by PRO TV SA executive Costi Mocanu who says that MTV Romania will complete the group portfolio by providing a more complete offer to audiences and advertisers.

Media PRO communications manager Maria Apostol told HotNews.ro that MTV Romania would only go through programming changes when new seasons start. She added that the group will invest in people and new formats but will maintain the current team.

In Romania, CME through PRO TV S.A controls the television channels Pro TV, Pro TV International, Acasa TV, Sport.ro and ProCinema.
