Romanians hoping to obtain faster consumption credits from banks in EU countries still have to wait. The move will be possible after 2010, although the European Parliament adopted rules able to align the consumption credit approval regulations in EU member states.

Radu Cristian Ghetea, president of the Romanian Banks Association, declared in an interview for the public radio station that the new EP decisions will be implemented in Romania starting in 2010, a moment when the banks will try to present customers with products and services at much lower costs, mainly due to the competition. "The possibility for a Romanian to obtain a credit abroad remains at a low level, and the procedures are very complicated", said the ARB president.
