National wired telephony operator Romtelecom dropped from an 84.9 million euro in 2005 to a 21.1 million euro loss in 2007. The massive loss of clients in the past years, the consolidation of some Cosmote losses, as well as the fiscal control generated losses added up to a 21.1 million euro loss for the company. The Romtelecom general manager, Yorgos Ioannidis, is glad that he stopped the loss of wired telephony clients, he doubled the digital television clients and expects a stable profit only in 2010.

Romtelecom lost 0.9 million clients in the wired telephony since 2005, from 3.9 to 3 million lines, a fact that generated a 2.6% decrease of the operational income.
