The European Commission has sent on Thursday its last warning to both Romania and Bulgaria before taking them in front of the European Court of Justice due to the malfunctioning of the 112 emergency call service. Even though Romania missed the deadline recommended by the European Commission to set clear measures for February 2008, Romanian Telecom Minister Karoly Borbely argued that Romania will not be sanctioned.

Despite this EC officials sent a second warning letter within the infringement measure opened last year at Brussels due to the deficiencies found in the 112 emergency call service. Romania thus enters the last warning phase and risks to reach the European Court of Justice.
