Japanese car and motorcycle maker Suzuki Motors Corporation officially announced the opening of a local office in Romania which will coordinate the development of a dealers network and will settle all commercial policies of the company in Romania, General Director Alin Radu said.

The office is functional as of February 15 but it currently has only three employees. The Japanese decided to open up their own office because over the past several years sales have decreased considerably, way under the potential of the market. Radu said that all past problems were mainly caused to insufficient production in Hungary.

Currently, Suzuki cars are sold in Romania through three dealers in Bucharest, Timisoara and Oradea, Western Romania. Suzuki sales estimations currently range below 3,000 cars and 700 motorcycles. Except for Jimny and Grand Vitara, all other models will be produced in Hungary.
