The managers of companies in Romania expect for the second quarter of 2008 a rise in activities related to the manufacturing industry, construction works, retail trade and services as compared to the first quarter, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute. All sectors of the economy expect higher prices throughout the period.

Managers interviewed by the Institute expect:

  • a higher production and number of contracts in the manufacturing sector;
  • higher production and number of contracts as well as number of employees in construction works while prices here will continue the upward trend;
  • higher sales in the retail sector with a sligh increase in payroll and prices;
  • a growing demand in the services sector where payroll and prices are expected to rise.
