Romania is ranked 45th in a global competitiveness list, one place lower than last year's ranking, according to a International Development Management Institute in Switzerland, quoted by Romanian news agency Mediafax. Top of the list is the United States followed by Singapore and Hong Kong.

Romania received 47.54% of US competitiveness, considered as a reference point. Other European Union member states which proved to be very competitive were Luxembourg on 5th place, followed by Denmark on 6th.

At the level of the European Union, Romania would be ranked 22 and the only states to obtain lower scoring is Italy, Cyprus, Malta and Latvia but they are not included in this world competitiveness list.
