Romania's national currency appreciated against the European single currency reaching 3.6082 Ron/euro on Monday after the first data on economic growth were published. The reference exchange rate is thus below last Friday's level when the central bank announced an exchange rate of 3,6213 Ron/euro.

The main reason for the appreciation is the unexpected boom of the gross national product (GNP), Transylvania Bank chief dealer Ioan Birle said. As compared to the American dollar, the reference exchange rate on Monday shows a 0.76% appreciation up to 2.3197 Ron for 1 dollar.
