While Renault sales drop significantly in Italy, Dacia sales grow and forecasts show that 14,000 Dacia models will be sold in 2009. Corriere della Seara reads that Dacia sales will double as compared to last year. Journalists compare Dacia with Ikea, saying that it is not only the cheap price but the versatile look of the car that attracts clients.

In Italy, some 6,700 Dacia cars were sold last year and this year experts forecasts sales of some 9,500 cars. For 2009, it is expected that the new Dacia model, Sandero to be the most sold Dacia model in the country, with 8,000 cars sold.

Italians seem to be attracted by the low price and the car's available interior space. In the first six months there were some 3,700 Dacia models sold, a 33% increase as compared to the same period last year.
