The annual inflation rate increased from 8.46% in May to 8.61% in June, but the monthly inflation rate in June decreased to 0.28%, compared to 0.49% in May, according to the National Statistics Institute. During the first six months of the year, the inflation rate was 3.57%.

Prices for fresh fruits increased the most in June - 7.77%, followed by beef and pork. Fuel price increased 1.26%.

Central Bank governor Mugur Isarescu estimated that the annual inflation rate will remain around 8% in the second semester and will decrease towards the end of the year.
