The number of authorizations for residential constructions stood at about 5800 in July this year, a 4.9% decrease compared to June 2008 but up 5.7% as compared to the same month, last year, Romania's National Statistics Institute informs.

In the first seven months of the year, some 35,233 authorizations were released - a 11.6% increase compared to the similar period in 2007. Experts announced recently that residential construction sites dropped by 3.3% in June 2008 as compared to May the same year.

In July alone, some 5839 authorizations were released of which 63% in rural areas. Recently, experts announced that the value of constructions grew by 33.2% in the first semester of this year, compared to the same period in 2007.
