Spending for IT services exceeded 363 million dollars in 2007 and will increase, on average, by 22% annually in Romania for the next five years, despite the economic decrease, an IDC study reveals, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn.

According to IDC, the Romanian IT market exceeded all estimations for the year and is expected to maintain the same crescendo. Spending for IT services in Romania, in 2007 represented an annual increase of 48.7% in dollars.

The market increase was mainly determined by big bank projects, telecommunications or central administration, the study shows. Most foreign investments come in the banking sector, oil and gases, telecommunications, retail and production which lead to a higher demand of IT infrastructure.

According to the study, the Romanian IT market is dominated by international players that occupy all the top ten positions. Last year, the biggest suppliers were HP, IBM and S&T.
