American company Bechtel announced on Wednesday that it may finish the construction works for the first 200 kilometers of the Transylvania highway - namely the segment between Campia Turzii and Bors - before the end of 2012. Bechtel official said that 95% of the necessary terrain was expropriated, but that the way the works will continue depends on the National Roads Company (CNADNR), the institution that has to move the high voltage pillars, the telephony lines and the water and gas pipelines.

"The discussions we has this year with Transport Minister Radu Berceanu led to the conclusion that we need another round or rounds of discussions, in order to establish a schedule for 2010 - 2012, so that this segment could be finished before the end of 2012", said Bogdan Sgarcitu, Bechtel communication manager.
