Catalin Marinescu, the new president of the Telecom authority (ANCOM) will discuss with mobile telephony operators in order to reach an expanding of the 3G service area and to re-organize the way the range is shared among operators, by introducing at least one new 3G license. At this moment, Orange, Vodafone, RCS and Zapp hold 3G licenses, and the attribution of a new one through re-allocating the existing spectrum band can not be done without their agreement.

The new ANCOM president also aims at ending in the shortest time possible - this year, or even before summer - the procedures for providing 3G services in the 2G band (900-1800 MHz).
