Orange registered in the first quarter of the year 264 million euro in revenues, a 14.1% decrease compared to the first quarter of the previous year, while revenues registered by France Telecom, the group Orange is part of, increase by 0.4% in the same period, a company's press release informed. Orange officials declared that the crisis hit them harder than last year and that the results reflect the 15.3% negative evolution of the exchange rate, tariff regulations impact and consumption adjustments on certain segments.

Orange Romania Executive Director Theirry Millet declared that Orange will continue to adapt its operations and offers to the new challenging environment and will continue to develop and improve the operator's service qualities.

According to official data, the annual average revenue per user was 114 euro in the mentioned period. In the first quarter of the year, the number of Orange customers registered a 1.1% increase compared the similar period, last year to reach 10,118,000 clients.

For this year, the main priority of the company is to develop its internet broadband services which continues to grow according to the company's strategy. Thus, in the first quarter of 2009 Orange registered some 1,889,000 broadband clients, a 81% increase compared to the firs quarter, last year.
