The volume of construction works dropped by 4.9% in the first five months of the year, compared to the similar period, last year, Romania's National Statistics Institute reveals on Tuesday. Construction works decreased in May 2009 by 1.6% compared to the previous month of the year and by 20.3% compared to the same month, last year.
In the first five months of the the year, the 4.9% drop was due to a decrease of 13.9% in engineering constructions and to a 0.4% decrease in non residential buildings.
