World Records Academy has announced that Romanian National Bank (BNR) governor Mugur Isarescu has set a world record as the longest serving governor of a central bank. Isarescu, 60, was named in office in 1990, which make 2009 his 19th year in office.

World Records Academy says Isarescu, who coordinated the economic policies in Romania for so many years, is seen as the "hidden" prime minister of the country.
