Romania was ranked 14 in Europe in car productions and Germany remained leader of the top even if its production dropped significantly. Last year, car production in most Western European countries dropped causing most changes in Austria and Italy where production decreased by 37% and 28%.

Overall, in Europe some 18.3 million cars were produced, registering a 5% decrease compaed to 2007, the International Organization of Car Producers data reveals. In Romania, some 231,000 cars were produced last year, compared to 234,000 in 2007.

Germany continued to outrank other European countries with 5.52 million cars produced and a 3% drop. France, ranked second, produced 2.14 million cars registering a 16% decrease.
