The Romanian leasing market dropped 73.6% in the first semester, currently amounting to 776.65 million euros. The most affected goods are industrial equipment and cars. Leasing companies financed goods worth of 2.94 billion euros in the first 2008 semester.

President of the Financial Societies Association from Romania (ALB) Jean-Claude Boloux said that the industrial drop was recorded by industrial equipment that is 82%. The value of the financed goods in this sector was 117.3 million euros.

The financing of vehicles brought the sector 507.1 million euros in the first semester, nearly 76% less against the same period in 2008. The real estate department dropped 20.94%, to 152.197 million euros.

The ALB president estimated that the leasing market will drop this year by 60-65% against 2008, when its value was 4.81 billion euros. ALB representatives said that the companies will report the delays of customers' pay at the Banking Risks Centre starting next year.
