61.101 new homes have been built last year, dropping 3.313 units against the figures from 2008, according to the Romanian National Institute of Statistics. During Q4 in 2009, 22.931 have been finalised, namely, 4.820 fewer than in the same period of the previous year.

Regarding residence environments, the new constructions analysis underlines an increase in their percentage in the rural area both in 2009 - 50.4% - and in 2008 - 52.4%. The drop is still present: minus 2% in 2009 against 2008.

In a regional profile of 2009, the biggest drop in finished homes was recorded in the development area Bucharest-Ilfov (-1.414 homes), while the biggest increase was seen in the development region of South-Muntenia (+733).
