Japan agreed to lend Romania a loan worth of 315 million Euros for Romanian authorities to build the Bucharest - "Henri Coanda" Airport tube network. The contract was sealed today, Marh 10, in Tokyo, by Romanian President Traian Basescu and Japanese MP Yukio Hatoyama, Agerpres informs.

The document was signed by Finance minister Sebastian Vladescu and Japan International Cooperation Agency president Sadako Ogata. The Romanian Foreign Affairs minister Teodor Baconschi was also present.

The project financed by the Japanese Government has been found as the solution to eliminate road blockages and the air pollution that Bucharest faces. The Urban Transport Master Plan elaborated by JICA in 1999 and approved by the CGMB in the fall of 2000 recommends, among the urban transport infrastructure development priorities, to follow expanding the tube network in Bucharest.
