The National Agency for Tax Administration - ANAF would have a special department to control private individuals with high income. The measure, announced in a letter of intent of Romanian authorities to the IMF, was confirmed by ANAF sources for HotNews.ro.

The new department would aim to check on how wealthy Romanians pay their taxes but also to identify those who don't state their wealth fully.

According to the Government's letter of intent, the Government says it would bring changes to the Fiscal and Fiscal Procedure codes to provide ANAF with the right to access banking data in certain suspicious situations.
