Romania's budget deficit after the first seven months of the year stands at an acceptable level of 3.9% of the GDP or 19.92 billion Ron, Finance ministry officials told HotNews.ro.

An analyst contacted by HotNews.ro said the figure was hard to translate as the level of late debt payments of companies to the state is very high and their inclusion in the deficit calculus may contribute with 2% to th GDP.

The 6.8% budget deficit target agreed with the IMF might be reached on an accounting level, economists contacted by HotNews.ro said.
