Romania's House of Deputies adopted on Monday a decision ruling the start of the investigation over claims of monopoly policies undertaken by supermarket chains. According to the decision, the Committee on Economic Policy and Privatization will investigate unfair practices which supermarkets are accused of. The goal of the investigation is to find a solution for the conflict.

Members of the commission will analyze the causes which lead to the situation noticed by producers, who accused supermarket chains of applying unfair tariffs for products to reach their shelves, and will verify accusations of applying price setting methods, along with the so called hidden taxes requested by supermarkets.

The economic commission can request information from the competent public authorities. The investigation needs to be finished by June 10.
