Democrat-Liberals, the party supporting president Traian Basescu, obtained their best score ever, almost double compared to the 2004 local elections. Still, the party president, Emil Boc, announced that nine county-level Permanent Bureaus were dismissed, due to poor results in the 2008 local elections. In the same public intervention, Boc demanded the Government to organize the general elections in November, as scheduled, claiming that there are signals indicating a possible postponing until spring 2009.
