Romania's Central Electoral Office announced on Monday afternoon the partial results after counting 92.73% of votes registered in general elections on Sunday. After Democratic Liberals (PD-L) came second in exit polls last night, they toppled the Social Democrats (PSD) when some 70% of the votes had been counted this morning, but in the arly afternoon PSD returned to the front, but at a very slight advantage of under 1%.

Liberals (PNL) and Hungarian Democrats (UDMR) remained third and fourth in voters preferences.

National level results:

  • House of Deputies: PSD - 33%, PDL - 32.57%, PNL - 18.32%, UDMR - 6.29%
  • Senate: PSD - 33.99%, PDL - 33.79%, PNL - 18.49%, UDMR - 6.54%

All other parties, including the far-right Greater Romania Party (PRM) and the populist New Generation Party (PNG) received under 5% of the votes at national level.

Results for Bucharest with 99.83% of votes counted:

  • PDL - 38.34%
  • PSD+PC - 34.84%
  • PNL - 15.52%
  • PNG - 5%

  • PDL - 37.52%
  • PSD+PC - 33.44%
  • PNL - 15.85%
