The activity of the two parliamentary chambers was blocked on Friday due to the divergences that arose between Democrat Liberals and Social Democrats. Democrat Liberals refused to accept Conservative Dan Voiculescu as deputy speaker of the Senate and the Social Democrats threatened to sustain Roberta Anastase as speaker of the House of Deputies.

However, by the end of the day, the two parties seemed to have come to a deal: Conservative Dan Voiculescu was elected deputy speaker in the Senate with 83 votes for and only 2 against. For her part, Roberta Anastase was elected House of Deputies speaker.
