Liberal Party president, former Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu, declared today that the attempt to modify the Constitution, according to the suggestions made by the Presidential Political and Constitutional Regime Analysis Commission, is not in favor of the citizens, who don't see more right or even the existing rights better protected. "The president tries to get even with the Parliament", said Tariceanu, most probably referring to the fact that Traian Basescu was suspended by the Parliament, while the new Constitution would turn the tables in his favor, the president being the one allowed to dismantle the Parliament.

Tariceanu insisted that the Constitution model must be similar to other viable Constitutions in Europe, namely one for a Parliamentarian republic. In case the Constitution is modified, this must lead to a more democratic representation of the citizens, said the former PM.
