House of Deputies Committee for internal rules decided that the immunity of ministers who are also parliamentarians can be lifted with a majority plus one of the votes and not by two thirds of the votes as before, Romanian monitoring agency Rador informs.

The decision comes after the Constitutional Court ruled last year that the Parliament's internal rule saying that the immunity of parliamentarians can be lifted with a two-thirds majority was not constitutional. Currently, the file of former PM Adrian Nastase, accused of corruption in several cases, is at stake, as prosecutors have urged the House to lift his immunity.
