The Communications Ministry has decided to change the management of the Romanian Mail, the National Radiocommunications Society (SNR) and of the Agency for Information Society Services (ASSI). The Tuesday announcement comes several days after the Social Democrats (PSD) decided to leave the government and was also presented as a means to cut personnel for cost cutting purposes.

The initiative to change the management of the three institutions was blamed in a press release on the "political imbalance" created by the PSD decision to leave the government.

Gabriel Grecu was replaced as head of SNR by Marius Popentiu, who has served as commercial manager within the institution. ASSI vice-president Toma Campeanu has become president of the body, replacing Bogdan Mihailescu. And Marius Vatafu, head of Romanian Mail was replaced by Tudor Bohalteanu, economic director within the company.
