Independent candidate Nati Meir has announced he would withdraw from the race for Romanian presidency in sign of protest against current events in Romanian politics, news agency Mediafax informs.

Nati Meir, whose chances in the presidential campaign due this autumn were minimal, said the events in Romanian politics of the past several days, when the Government lost a censure motion in Parliament and is due to seat down, convinced him that all parties were only interested in personal profit.

But he said he would not withdraw from politics.
